Default A "Holdings" NPC for Pre

Now I'm 99.9% positive this idea has *not* been suggested before. Either search isn't being reliable or I'm just using the wrong keywords.

Anyway, the idea is not to put a Xunlai agent in Pre-Searing, but instead put an NPC in that would only accept items. You wouldn't be able take things out. But wait! When you do put things into this NPC window, they "hold" the items for you through time, namely the two years between Pre- and Post-Searing.

Who here has seen Back to the Future? *imagines hundred of hands being raised* OK, at the end of the second movie, Marty sees the Delereon hit by lightning right? Doc ends up back in the Wild West, 1885. Remember the Western Union guy that shows up with a letter from Doc Brown? That's my idea! That letter was given to Western Union with the explicit instructions to deliver it to Marty "at this exact location, at this exact minute, November 12, 1955.

An NPC could either approach you, or you just walk up to him/her, and they'd say "Excuse me, but I have some things from you. Things that were... I mean are supposed to be given to you after exactly two years and eighty-seven days, at this location, by well... someone of your acquaintance."

A character in Pre-Searing would put stuff into this holdings NPC in Pre, and another character would take them out in Post. It would just work like a one-way valve to prevent Pre-Searing characters from receiving high-end items from the future. The slot limit could be set at ten slots, half the number in a Xunlai vault box.

You all may now claim this is a terrible idea and how it would severely unbalance the game.

I don't think it would unbalance the game at all but I just don't see a need for it. Other than crafting materials and maybe dyes there isn't anything you really need to keep from pre-searing. The whole point of getting the bags and belt pouch is to increase storage so you should have plenty of room when you go through the searin.

Hehe, some people spend a looong time in pre and gather up every kind of dye, silk, etc...

Unless they've changed it since I've been in pre--a long time ago--you can only get the belt pouch, not any bags there.

No bags in pre...

Anyways, this would mainly effect the people going for the LDoA title...which is... .0000001% of players....and only about 1*10^-50 ever get it too....

/signed...sorta...

/definitively not signed

They typist has knowledge that they're going to be useful things, not the character, it doesn't work into the story at all. The only reason it's suggested is for the greed of the player.

The whole Idea is for pre to be a staging/learning area. The title was added afterwards and should be the only reward to staying in pre for that long.

It's not meant to be a place that people live in and prepare themselves to buy the best armor and weapons once they do get to post searing.

Not to mention that people already make a "good living" buying black and white dyes from noobs who don't know they're worth more than 1g, no reasong to make it easier on them by giving them a way to ferry everything to post.

While I do like the idea, in concept, I can see it being used (or abused, however you choose to look at it) for two things in particular:

Rune and Dye farming.

Dyes and Runes are extremely easy to farm in Pre-Searing and, at least in my own experience, have a much higher drop rate than in the Post-Searing period. If this NPC was added, an individual would be able to take their level 15-20 Pre-Searing character and farm as many Major/Minor Runes and Dyes (specifically, Black and White) as they wanted with ease, without having to go to Post-Searing (and therefore causing a player to have to grind back up to a high level in Pre-Searing to repeat the process) to make any money off of them. This would of course influence the economy of Guild Wars, and as a general rule, I am against anything that would make that structure any more unstable than it already is.

So, because it would have an effect on the economy, I am going with a /notsigned on this idea.

I could see the advantage, but anyone that says "No" think about this; some people like me don't need it. I own 2 accounts, 1 character on my second account shuttles stuff to post, so bassed on my abilty to own 2 accounts I have an advantage. How is that fair?

It doesn't make sense from a storyline perspective. Pre-Searing takes place 2 years before Prophecies. How do you explain how you can access your current stuff in the past?

I really don't see how this would affect the Dye and/or Rune farming of Pre...

You don't need a lvl20 to go farm Dyes in Pre. I use a lvl5 most of the time.

I have a Pre character that has a lot of Dyes on her. Once I do the searing, I'll send all these dyes over to Post Ascolon. Will this utterly destroy the Dye Market? No. I don't see how it would. If it did, then it wasn't much of a market to begin with...

By adding in this feature, players would still be able to do what they already can do while having more room for Quest Items, etc.

As for the time differentiation, it makes since. It would act as a "One-Way Storage" through time. You can send things into Storage in the future, but things in the future are inaccessible to the past...

Wait... Why didn't people complain about Shing Jea and Kamadan getting Storage, yet adding something like this will rip the game apart and make baby Jesus cry?

I don't understand some of the logic utilized on this forum sometimes...

You know, most people on these forums will find a negative reason why a suggestion will not work, and then bash the idea without even considering their own thoughts. This causes many good ideas to be trashed and the game gets patched in with crappy quick-fixes that only make it worse.

But you are different. You have thought about the negative impact, and realized that there really is'nt one. You are capable of seeing the positive side of things, and making ideas work. You deserve a big /salute from me

Though I can say this idea does not seem that important to the development of the game. Anet has other areas of the game that need desperate attention of you ask me.
